What a beautiful frame . I also own a FH Grubb, a 23” Southern Cross, frame no 5175. I am told it too was made in 1951, the year they went bankrupt.
Unrelated, the flying suit your grandfather described is Beadon. It was specifically designed for the Far East and to carry survival equipment.
